Paint Your Heart Out 2016
TEAM Punta Gorda and Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity joined forces with local businesses and a large group of enthusiastic volunteers the last Saturday in February to beautify the exteriors of eight Punta Gorda homes that qualified for a face-lift. This program serves homeowners who are elderly, disabled or low-income while beautifying the greater Punta Gorda area. One hundred volunteers reported to their assigned homes, paintbrushes and rollers in hand, to help local families. Prior to the event, these homes were evaluated and prepped by Burt Wahlburg of Gulfview Construction and his crew. Hoover Pressure Cleaning donated their time to pressure wash each home prior to painting. The homeowners who were served by this program were genuinely thankful for the outpouring of support, as evidenced by this one of several letters.
Serving local in-need residents in this manner sends a message of pride and builds a sense of community spirit and unity that lasts long after the paint day. A huge “thank you” to the volunteers, many of them dignitaries from the City of Punta Gorda, who helped make this day of giving back a tremendous success: Charlotte State Bank and Trust, Grande Aire, Gulfview Construction, Hoover Pressure Cleaning, Ken Tyner Electric, Landsberg Bennett, members of the Punta Gorda Community, Peace River Distributing, the Rotary Club of Punta Gorda and Towles Corporation.
